Clos De La Roche grand cru is often the most robust of the wines from the terroirs of Morey-Saint-Denis which gives it a more rustic side in the tannins and allows it to age more than others. It has a very fruity bouquet with notes of cherries, violets and a touch of nuttiness. The best vintages will age for up to 25 years later without any trouble, even if a small deposit always forms with the years.
The original domaine was founded in 1850 and carried on in the family. The current proprietor is Georges Lignier. The vineyards comprise 15 Hectares, with production at 5,000 cases per annum. Grand Cru's are all aged in new oak. Ageing of the wines is approximately 18 months in barrels, with the older barrels used for 1er Cru and village appellations.
